Is Bitcoin a viable alternative for US Casinos?
3rd September 2018 – Bitcoin and iGaming. Is the popular crypto currency a real payment alternative for the playing at online casinos?
Well certainly the rise of dedicated Bitcoin Casinos is on the march. With many casinos now adding the popular electronic payment method as a solution for players.
This is an area of iGaming that we at OCR have as of yet looked at and hence therefore we currently have not reviewed any casinos which were specifically setup with the digital currency in mind. But, it is an area we are keen to take a closer look at.
Certainly since the advent of the UIGEA in 2006 the option for US Players has been somewhat limited in the number of casinos available to play at. Added to this the reduction in casino banking payment methods available. So it does kind of make sense that Bitcoin could well be a viable alternative.
Unregulated Currency for an Unregulated Market!
Our main concern as to why we have not embraced bitcoin here on OCR is the fact that it is still an unregulated currency. So in essence, not only are you ‘gambling’ on the value of the currency fluctuating widely, many casinos that accept Bitcoin are also operating in unregulated markets. With many of these online casinos also more rogue than good!
That is not to say that reputable online casinos have avoided using Bitcoin and their brethren currencies as an option for players. There are some decent operators who have embraced Bitcoin.
However, the uncertainty and volatility of Bitcoin is such, that we at Online Casino Reviewer do not feel completely comfortable in showcasing those casinos to our visitors. For the time being at least.
That said, if you really want to roll the dice and go for it as it were, then we can recommend the site onlinecasino.info, which is one of the better resources currently out there for players.
