Default Another huge casino looks to the Sportsbook sector.

Sports betting the target for 888
Listed casino giant 888 has revealed plans to ramp up the marketing of its previously low key sports betting operations to its massive database of players.
888 currently operates a white label of the Betdaq betting exchange under the Betmate banner, which does not accept bets from the US.

But the firm is keen to grow revenues from the previously underexploited section of its business.

“We will be focusing much more on sports betting in the near future,” John Anderson, chief executive of 888, said.

“We wanted to get it bedded down and everything worked well before we started aggressively selling it,” Anderson said.

He added the firm would be focusing heavily on the cross sell to its massive database of casino and poker customers.

However, 888 is not expected to begin offering bets to its massive US player base.

888 is not the only casino firm to enter into the sports betting sector, with rival operator Carmen Media already running a European-focused sportsbook.

There were also rumours PartyGaming was planning to enter the sports betting sector through the acquisition of betting exchange Betfair.

However, Betfair was quick to dismiss the rumours saying “it’s news to us”.

888 or their parent company Cassava have been running a betting exchange for the last year. I use to work with the person who was instrumental in setting it up
