Bryan has been away for the weekend only returning this afternoon. I spoke to him a couple of hours ago and I think the plan is to get everything back tomorrow - which makes sense as it is a normal working day.

With regards backups. No data has been lost afaik and therefore all posts up until the outage will be intact.

A major pain. This is why I mailed all the people who have signed up here, as I knew several posted on CM and wanted to be able to let everyone know what was happening.

Well, I spoke too soon. Just went to login to my movie site, and it's gone again. The message this time is: Hacked Again....Weird, U R So F***ing Stupid.

And if you type the site name into Google, you get redirected to a search page asking me if I meant stupidmotherf******.us It looks like whatever bottom feeder has done this, has actually somehow changed the domain name itself.

How is this possible? Are these people not taking the necessary precautions? Doesn't VBulletin have safeguards built in?

I'm in shock. Millions of internet forums, and I'm only active at two...and they're both gone. WTF?

Just to reiterate the issue with meister is nothing to do with VBulletin as it is patched up to date. Also there is no compromise of the site or forum.

VBulletin releases security updates as and when necessary and is by and large secure, not being open source software.

I had my politics forum when running on phpbb software hacked by some Turkish Hacker ring several years ago. Removed everything and replaces the home page with some freaky message. Was down for about a day.

Thanks for the email and update Dave, I kinda figured it was a DOS attack since it has been down since yesterday evening. I've seen a hell of a lot of DOS attacks lately on forums that publish using php. You think Bryan will be able to find out who caused this one?

Thanks Dave....I wasn't referring to CM, but the other site I go to that has been hacked twice now in the last 24 hrs, also using VBulletin. Was just curiousity is all.
