Auditor will become famous soon enough
Default APCW Perspectives Weekly 03/13/09

Online gambling gets some good news in America, as the new US Trade Representative promised to follow the WTO rules! This as the European Union puts the online gambling in the back seat. Plus, what the hell is wrong with the government of South Carolina?

Yeah. I read some articles about the the bill. Though I agree that online casinos should not be too tightly labeled as illegal, but they should still post the anti-gambling law to this bill.

I am quietly confident that 2009 is the year that the UIGEA gets scrapped and is also the year that the US seriously considered regulating Online Gambling

I started my site 6 months before UIGEA = terribly bad timing.
Just when it should have been taking off - a ran out of runway!

Incredible optimism there Webz - I reckon it will be at least 2010...

Online Casino Reviewer had really started to take off, I had just got married and also moved back from Gibraltar to the UK when the UIGEA was passed in October 2006.

It has been bad for all involved in the industry especially the US Based player, who has seen over the last 2 years the number of properties taking US Residents fall and fall. Now there really are only a handful of reputable poker rooms and online casinos where a US Player can play. Then there is the funding and withdrawing issue to encounter.

I may be being optimistic KK, but the US is at the forefront of the credit crunch that the world is experiencing at the moment. Everything the US does, is primarily done for money. We could get very political here by mentioning the invasion of Iraq but that would derail the thread

This year could well be a landmark year for the eGaming industry. The land based bricks and mortar casinos are starting to see the pinch. Whilst the US Federal Govt defecit is increasing.

It won't be long, with a democrat controlled house and democrat incumbent in the Oval Office, that not only doing away with the UIGEA would be actually a sensible and right thing to do, to a bill that passed on the back of legislation that had nothing to do with online gambling. But if done correctly and properly, by starting to the process of REGULATING online gambling, there are a lot of much needed tax dollars to fill the federal govt coffers.

You may well be right that it won't be until 2010 until we see the fruition of Barney Frank's hard work. But I am very hopeful that in the last quarter of 2009 the UIGEA will be history and the US will be starting to welcome online gambling properties back.

Here's hoping anyway

Thank you!

Times is VERY hard right now - too many affiliates, not enough players.
The last tree months have been extremely poor, but the 6 before that were very good so hopefully that will carry me through the bad patch.
